My choice for Inspiring Food Star of the Week is Gordan Ramsey. You either love him or hate him. In my case I can not get enough of him! Most of us know him from Hells Kitchen, did any of you know that he has been awarded 15 Michelin Stars and currently holds 14 of them. Originally wanting to be a football player but was plagued with many injuries, Gordan turned to cooking. Before becoming the tv star that we know today Ramsey worked in French Alps, Paris and Bermuda to name a few places.
His entrance into food television was in a couple of documentaries between 1998-2000. The year 2004 brought us Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares, which was where I first discovered Gordan. This series saw the chef trouble shooting failing restaurants over a one week period and helping them overcome there obstacles. I still love this show to this day. They even made an American version of it. In 2005 the Fox network picked up Hells Kitchen and that is where Gordan Ramsey became a household name. The show follows a similar premise as the original British series, showcasing Ramsay’s perfectionism and infamously short temper. Ramsay had also hosted a US version of Kitchen Nightmares which premiered on Fox on 19 September 2007. The show’s second season aired from September 2008 to January 2009; in September 2008, Fox announced that Kitchen Nightmares would return for a third season which aired from January 2010 to May 2010. Since then Gordan has had many television production including: The F Word, Master Chef, Gordan’s Great Escape, Ramsey’s Best Restaurant, and Hotel Hell.
What people do not know about Gordan is that he does have a softer side. He is a loving husband and father to four children. I bet you could not have pictured that while watching Hells Kitchen! Gordan is involved with a variety of charities,he ran 10 marathons for the Scottish Spina Bifida Association. Ramsay has been Honorary Patron of the Scottish Spina Bifida Association since 2004, and in 2005 he launched The Gordon Ramsay “Buy a Brick” appeal to help the organization raise funds to build a new Family Support Center and Head Office in Glasgow. In 2006 he launched a new Appeal to help the charity raise the funds required to continue to run the support center “What’s your favorite F Word, Gordon’s is Fundraising”.
Gordan Ramsey is an award winning chef, restaurant owner, television personality, writer, husband and father. Thank you Gordan Ramsey for being an inspiration!
