I am going to start off my saying I absolutely LOVE this woman. When I think of who inspires me to be more fit she is the first one that comes to mind. I would have made her my 1st Inspiring Fitness Star of the Week but I wanted to go in order of who inspired me in this great journey of mine. Who am I thanking this week?? Only the fantastically awesome Jillian Michaels!

Inspiring Fitness Star of the Week

The great thing about Jillian is that she really gets it. She grew up struggling with her weight which ballooned up to 175 pounds after her parents divorce at 12 years old. Jillian understands what it is like to battle with your weight and knows how to win. She attended California State University, supporting herself with bartending and personal training. In 2002, she opened Sky Sport and Spa in Beverly Hills.

Then in 2004 came the Biggest Loser and this is where I first discovered Jillian Michaels. I did not know what to think of her at first. She was kind of scary and seemed a little mean! The more I watched the show, I saw that she had a big heart and really cared about her team. The tough part was just to help them get the results and it definitely worked. Seeing the great results the contestants were getting was so inspiring. It made me wish I could have my own Jillian as my trainer.

Since 2005, Jillian has released 15 workout DVDs. My personal favorite is “30 Day Shred”, it works believe me. If you do not see results in 30 days you are not doing it right! The mix of strength training and cardio is the most effective workout I have found. Jillian has also published a few books. I am currently reading “Master your Metabolism”. I have made quite a dent in it and I am learning a lot but I did not expect any less from this lady. I will write a post on the book when I am finished reading it.

Jillian is involved in many charities including: the Clinton Foundation’s Alliance for a Healthier Generation, Stand Up to Cancer, Hope for Haiti, Sow a Seed and Dress for Success, and PETA. She is also an adviser for the National Day of Dance for Heart Health. An organization that encourages people to exercise, have fun and to laugh, learn and dance for a healthier heart.

If she wasn’t inspiring enough, Jillian is a mother of two. Jillian adopted a 2 year old girl from Haiti in May 2012. She became a mother for the second time in the same month, when her partner Heidi Rhodes gave birth to their son. Since then Jillian has softened a lot more. Seeing her now in interviews she seems like a totally different woman. A woman that now has everything she every had wanted and that is truly inspiring. Thank you Jillian Michaels for being such an incredible inspiration to me and so many others around the world!
